Train wreck waiting to happen

In Yahoo headlines today: Kevin Federline to release new album in August.

"The inspiration and meaning behind the title, "Playing With Fire," is self-explanatory," the 28-year-old Federline, known to some as K-Fed, said in a statement Tuesday.

"I'm excited about this album and am looking forward to continuing my promotional club tour in support of it and seeing the firsthand reaction of my fans listening to my songs for the first time," he said. "My album is sure to set the dance floors across the world on fire!"

It's nice to want things. For reals. But when you make statements like that last one, you're jinxing yourself. We all know who's footing the bill here, folks. Let's not kid ourselves into believing that, if not for Miss Pop Diva, he'd still be a back-up dancer.

His first single, the critically slammed Brazilian groove "PopoZao," was released earlier this year through Yahoo Music Unlimited. In response to the slam, I remember him saying something like, "We got several thousand hits the day it debuted, so there's some curiousity about my stuff." Last I heard, curiousity does not equal fans. And it was a curiousity on par with a train wreck: you know it's going to be brutal, but you have to look anyway.

Allllllrightythen, let's recap: You're Mr. Britney Spears. Nothing more. And you're rapping career will go the way of Vanilla Ice. We all know this. There is only one white rapper in this generation and he goes by the name Slim Shady. If anything, your efforts will only end up as fodder for another hit song on his album. Just quit while you're ahead and save yourself the heartbreak. *pat on the back*. Nice thought, though.
